Our Journey
Our family farmed at Laurel Farm for over 25 years and expanded to having 250 cows including 120 milking cows.
We opened our glamping site in Summer 2021 and have 3 couples pods, and 2 pods that sleep 4. In March 2023, our family retired from dairy farming and sold our milking herd. We still have younger cows on site for guests to see!
Sustainability
Our family has a commitment to protecting our green spaces and the spaces around us; since opening in 2021 we’ve planted 6 trees, over 300 hedging plants and sown wild meadow seed across our site. We further encourage insects and wildlife with our bug hotels, bird boxes and bird tables, creating a tranquil environment for both people and wildlife. Taking steps to minimise the environmental impact, and maximise the potential for wildlife has always been close to our hearts, and will continue to be as we further develop our little haven in the Somerset countryside.
We actively encourage our guests to recycle as much as possible on site, including soft plastic and food waste, to minimise general waste created by guests. In an effort to reduce waste further, we use recyclable welcome packs and have taken the decision not to provide typical toiletries as they are often wasted after a few uses.
We are required by law to empty, clean and refill hot tubs on every changeover - in an effort to reduce waste water, we neutralise used hot tub water then reuse it for general cleaning and use on the farm.
During 2023, we will seek to install an electric car charging point in our car park, although charging is already available at the site entrance (from the main house).
